Statement from AAS |
| Following executive discussion the AAS is changing the way in
which it works, reflecting the changes that have taken place in the use of the Association
by schools in the past few years where prime users moved from schools to non-school clubs.
Therefore:- § BSAC ceases forthwith due to lack of school support § BSIAC ceases forthwith due to lack of school support § The Southern will continue under the auspices of Lintman Archers, supported by AAS. § The badge scheme will continue as it is to support junior archery until stocks run out. The badge cost will be £2.00 to all juniors. § Affiliation fees for schools to be handled by GNAS directly, as AAS will not have members and will, therefore, collect no further fees. § The Web site will continue to publish results and details of the Southern, the Badge scheme etc. and be used to provide practical advice to schools that is not available elsewhere. It cannot publish GNAS information as GNAS have continually refused to provide relevant information. § The broadsheet JAW will be issued only on the website on an as required basis. GNAS was made aware of the situation regarding AAS activities but has not chosen to react in a way that would help AAS rather than juniors in general, no useful contact with the Junior Committee has taken place. Indeed misleading information has been published electronically exacerbating the situation.V Various development issues have taken place at National level (school development for example) in which AAS officials have not been invited to participate, or allowed to provide advice based on their considerable experience in working with children in schools. AAS has been told that far more schools are participating in the sport. Unfortunately the evidence available to AAS, based on affiliations and tournament entries, is to the contrary. Had it been otherwise AAS would not have been forced to make the changes it has. All trophies (except those for the Southern) should be returned immediately to either the Secretary or the Chairman as they are challenge trophies. |
