TOURNAMENTS

The Association runs a number of tournaments for all GNAS juniors throughout the year. The main details are given below, but contact with the relevant organiser will ensure that any queries are speedily resolved.

ELIGIBILITY

AAS tournaments are open to all Junior archers (under 18) from GNAS or AAS affiliated clubs. For team competitions a division is made between school and non-school clubs. Teams are always the top four scoring archers from a club on the day.

ROUNDS

AAS tournaments (except BSIAC where a Portsmouth round is shot) are over six dozen arrows as set out below. The distances vary according to the age, sex and bow type used by the archer. All distances are in yards and a 122cm face is used.

TEAMS

Club teams will consist of 4 archers. A club’s highest scoring 4 archers, from any class except L, form the ‘A’ team, the next four the ‘B’ team etc. Incomplete teams count in the ranking. At certain shoots there are additional trophies for compound teams

AWARDS

These will vary slightly according to the type of shoot. Generally they will be the top three school teams and the top three non-school teams. There are special trophies at BSAC for a girls team and the newest club team. Class medals will also be awarded. Individual medals will vary according to the size of entry but classes will include all archers whether school or non-school. At certain shoots (other than BSAC & BSIAC) the organiser may award medals on the previously un-rewarded principle.

ENTRY FEES

AAS clubs (full and associate) £3.50 per archer

Non AAS clubs £4.50 per archer

Postage (no SAE’s required) £0.50 per club

Late entry fee £1.00 per club

TRAVEL COSTS

School clubs situated more than 75 miles from the venues of BSAC or BSIAC may submit a claim for assistance with travelling expenses to the AAS committee.

LATE ENTRIES

These may be accepted, subject to available target space, and at the organisers discretion. Most AAS shoots fill up quickly and early booking is always advised!

RULES

All AAS shoots are shot to GNAS rules and under the control of GNAS Judges. Archers are expected to know, and abide by, those rules. The Judges and Officials will always assist new archers to understand the rules and etiquette of the sport. All archers attending the shoots must be members of on AAS club or a GNAS club.

INFORMATION

Shooting lists are sent out for BSIAC and the Southern, but not for the BSAC (due to the late changes that always happen! when directions and timings will be mailed). If you require an acknowledgment of entry please send a stamped addressed postcard. Stamped envelopes are not required.

LIABILITY

While every precaution will be taken to ensure the conduct of the tournaments with regard to the safety of archers, equipment and other persons, no liability for injury, loss or damage can be accepted by the Tournament organisers, the Association or the administrators of the venues. Entry to shoots is deemed acceptance of these conditions.
